Australian Volunteer Coast Guard

November – 1976
AVCG founded
The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard (AVCG) Lake Macquarie unit was established at Swansea Heads.

Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol

March – 1937
Coastal Patrol
Volunteer Marine Rescue Services establish in Lake Macquarie at the suggestion of the Royal Australian Navy.
February – 1983

A design was prepared for a proposed “Operations and Radio Room at Reids Mistake, Swansea Heads” which was approved by Lake Macquarie Municipal Council.

Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie Established
The AVCG Lake Macquarie (Swansea Heads) unit and the Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol (Pelican) merged to form the single Marine Rescue NSW organisation, now operating as Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie
February – 1983
