Chain Valley Colliery Geotechnical Drilling Program

Delta Power and Energy will carry out a routine geotechnical drilling program in south-west Lake Macquarie from mid-October to mid-December 2026. Read on for information about the program and what lake users and the local community can expect while work is underway.

Geotechnical investigations, including drilling and surveying, are routinely carried out as part of mine planning, monitoring and regulatory requirements. This drilling program will improve our understanding of the geology under the lakebed and help inform future mine planning at Chain Valley Colliery.

Drilling will take place at four locations in south-west Lake Macquarie near Summerland Point, Morisset Park and Wyee Point, as shown in the drilling area map below.
